Zigic has scored more goals...

So what, he aint half the player.

Size wise, he's about four times the player ;)

Benitez was exciting in his movement and his pace, but as a striker, he had the shot of a three year old girl, and if the backroom rumours are to be believed, he couldn't be bothered in training half the time.

Zigic, on the other hand, shows improvement in every game, and whilst he isn't as flashy as Benitez, he's much more of a solid prospect.

Its a classic case of some people falling for style instead of substance.

Sorry mate but as much as it hurts me to say it but Zigic will never be a prem player, he is 31 next year and even if he does have a couple of good games every dozen or so I will never be convinced, you can just tell if a player "has it" after half a dozen games and at his age and what he has shown up to now I do not think he is good enough for us, think about it...how many prem clubs would show an intrest if we put him up for sale in January...the answer is no one and deep down you know that's the truth.

He's only just 30, for God's sake. Don't say he's over the hill yet, he's got at least four or five good years left in him yet.

It took Drogba more than half a season to start imposing himself in the Premiership, Henry took some time, and the less said about the likes of Forlan and Angel the better.

He's never played this sort of football in his life, and he might not really get it until next season, but how are we ever going to know unless we give him the chance, and its not as if we're playing to his strengths, which is playing the ball to his feet, not smashing it at his head.

How on earth is he ever going to improve if all we do is write him off after less than half a season?

EDIT: Oh, and don't presume to tell me what I do and don't know to be the truth, thank you very much. I'm old enough and smart enough to make up my own mind.

I'd do anything NOT to have chucho back

Would you swop him for Zigic?

No.

I'd have them both here though, because although Benitez was powder puff in front of goal, like Zigic, I thought given time he may have been useful in the Premier.

But Eck disagreed, and he's got way more experiance in football management than I have (and everyone else here, I might add), so I'll trust the expert rather than the fan.

You obviously haven't made your way to the football chat section and read the Benitez thread, otherwise you'd already know the answer to this question.

I'd rather Blues have Zigic as well. Better delivery and higher volumes of it to the forwards, and the goals will come. Faddy and Hleb can't come back quickly enough.

the thread in football chat has a good example of where people are blind when it comes to chucho.

The exanple in that thread was someone said after chucho went off after wolves and didnt play the following 5 games we "lost everyone without chucho"

Infact we won 3 of the 5 and lost 2! so we catagorically did better in that run of games without him than we did with him

I've figured it out.

:applause:

I know why the Pools is not a fan of the Chucho

**thumbup

The Pools was inspecting the Away toilets ( September 13th 2009 ) just after half time when he saw this little bloke in a Blues' kit wandering around.
He mistook him for a fan who got lost in the visitor's block.

So to cheer him up he took out his huge autograph album from the rucksak he carried and asked him to sign it..... with his school and also name his favourite blues player etc.

With 10 minutes left the Pools saw this kid run on the pitch as a sub. That night the Pools was on the internet for hours trying to decipher what this kid had written in his sacred tome.

He made a mistake...the kid, Chucho...had not written a string of obscenities, but merely signed, 'Thank You - I will always appreciate the kindness you have
shown me, and I will really try hard for you, because -
"usted tiene bolas"

:D

And a  for pools.

If chucho could finish he would have had 20+ last season easily, and how hard can it be to teach him?

You can only teach someone who is willing to learn. His lack of commitment to training was well known.

Give le someone with zero natural ability but the will to work over someone with a bit if natural ability who is unwilling to try an better himself.

in all seriousness though its true.

Ryan Giggs said not long ago he still puts in effort in training, gets there early and listens to the manager and coach and still wants to learn. His age, his experience and he is still trying to improve himself...mr benitez was hit n miss for even bothering to turn up for training. That little example says it all

At least he bothered to turn up whilst he was on the pitch, you can't deny that. We looked a far more dangerous side when he was in it.
I totally agree with you about his scoring record & his shooting of course, but he was a right handful sometimes for defenders, he brought Jerome into the game a lot more & gave our defence a bit of a breather.

he had pure natural ability I have never once doubed that - the problem is he wouldnt ever get any better because he is so steadfast and was not willing to learn. Therefore he would have never been the finished article for us

We do miss him but if his attitude is as pooley says then he has no right to laugh at blues.

I think Chucho matured by going to England. 19 goals (14 in the Mexican league + 5 from international friendlies this season) is really good. Hopefully he proves himself in Copa America.
